What does "Zen" mean?

The word "Zen" is the Japanese pronunciation of the Chinese "Chán" (禪), which means "meditation." Chinese Chán was transmitted to Japan and then evolved into "Zen" (禅) around the eighth century. Today, the word "Zen" is in more general use in the West.

Zen Buddhism is a meditation-based, purified, determined, and uncompromising form of Buddhism that is uninterested in doctrinal refinements. Not relying on scriptures, doctrine, or ritual, Zen is verified by personal experience and transmitted from master to disciple, hand to hand, ineffably, through rigorous and meticulous training. Imbued with elements of Taoism, Confucianism, and Chinese poetry, and written in an informal style peppered with Chinese proverbs and street slang, much of classical Zen literature is built upon legendary anecdotes about the great masters.

Jewelry in religion and spirituality.

It is said that everything in our lives is meant to influence us in one way or another. And the best example of this is Zen jewelry, which is more than just adornment! It's also worth noting that some people use Hindu and Buddhist jewelry for yoga practice.

Buddhist mala bracelets are used like prayer beads to count the number of times a mantra is chanted or recited, to count breaths during meditation, to count prostrations, or for repetitions of a Buddha's name. However, they are all similar to other forms of prayer beads used in various world religions.

Traditionally, the Buddhist mala bracelet consists of 108 beads, resembling a necklace, but it can be worn as a bracelet if wrapped around itself several times. In the past, these Buddhist bracelets were used to achieve enlightenment. Today, they are worn for various purposes, often related to mental focus.

There are shorter Buddhist bracelets, which could be described as wrist malas, consisting of 18, 21, or 27 beads. This smaller bracelet has the same meaning and conveys the same message. It is not just a fashion accessory; it is also a symbol of faith. This mala bracelet can be made of various materials, such as wooden or stone beads, each with its own specific purpose. In crystal healing , certain stones, such as tiger's eye or black obsidian, to name just two, possess certain properties and energies that can have a beneficial effect on the body and mind.

The color of the beads that make up the mala bracelet is also important. For example, yellow promotes new projects and enhances communication and concentration skills. White promotes healing and calmness. Green, gray, and black are helpful for spiritual development. Red empowers and increases energy, while purple inspires success and brings motivation.
