A great painter, writer, calligrapher and poet of the Ming dynasty, discover this Chinese statuette of Tang Yin, as well as the exciting life of this great Chinese artist.

Tang Yin (唐寅) ( 1470–1524 AD) (also known as Tang Bohu)
Tang Yin was a great painter, writer, calligrapher, and poet of the Ming dynasty. His brilliant talent earned him fame and friends, but also suspicion and disaster.
Tang Yin was born into an ordinary family; his father owned a small restaurant. They were never wealthy, but they lived a peaceful and happy life together. Tang Yin displayed exceptional talent in painting, calligraphy, and literature . He became a child prodigy and famous in his hometown. At the age of 15, he achieved first place in his town's imperial examination, and subsequently, his reputation as a genius spread widely.
He befriended other talented people and married a beautiful girl. During this time, Tang Yin's life was bright and carefree. Tang Yin and his friends spent much of their time having fun, traveling, painting, and writing, enjoying their youth. Around the age of 24, a series of tragedies occurred . Tang Yin lost his parents, his wife, his son, his younger sister, his childhood friend, and his teacher.
He then decided to take the Imperial National Examination, achieve a good score, and attain a political position, as all scholars of the Ming Dynasty hoped. In the years that followed, he studied diligently, married his second wife, and gradually recovered from his past losses. At the age of 28, Tang Yin achieved an excellent score on the examination and traveled to Beijing to take the final stage of the Imperial Examination.
On his way to Beijing, he met a man named Xu Jing, from a very wealthy family, and they became good friends. Tang Yin and Xu Jing sat the imperial examination together, and only the two of them managed to pass all the tests. It turned out that Xu Jing had bribed and bought the exam questions from an examiner. However, Tang Yin had not received the questions from Xu Jing; he had not cheated. Nevertheless, Tang Yin and Xu Jing were eliminated from the competition together.
Later, Tang Yin became dissolute and debauched, spending most of his time drinking, painting, and frequenting brothels. A decade later, at the age of 44, a king invited him to become his official assistant. However, after living for some time in the king's palace, he discovered that the king was secretly preparing to rebel , which was considered treason during the Ming Dynasty. Tang Yin managed to get himself dismissed from his post by the king. He was right, for the rebel king was defeated in a war a few years later. He continued a life of pleasure and earned his living by selling his paintings until his death.
