In the traditional art of tea, water is not held back: it flows, warms the material, and frees the spirit. Inspired by ancestral tasting rituals, our Bamboo Ceremony Tray (Cha Pan) combines the warmth of natural wood slats with an invisible, watertight reservoir to transform your tea or matcha preparation into a moment of pure serenity, without the fear of a single drop of water on your table.
The Magic of the Double Bottom: The Secret of the Cha Pan Ritual
The great principle of the tea ceremony is to handle hot water with complete freedom: rinsing the cups, soaking the bamboo whisk, wiping the base of the bowl. This tray solves water management with invisible ingenuity:
- Immediate drainage: The finely slotted upper bamboo grate allows water to filter instantly downward without creating puddles around your utensils.
- Large capacity reservoir (~800 ml): Concealed beneath the bamboo, the watertight lower tank collects excess water throughout your tasting without ever overflowing.
- Effortless emptying: Thanks to a discreet circular finger hole, the bamboo plate lifts with a single finger to empty and rinse the tray in seconds.
A Generous Size (36 × 24 cm): The Ideal Setting for Your Rituals
Unlike narrow miniature trays, its comfortable dimensions have been specially calibrated to accommodate all your artisanal pieces:
- Perfectly suited for the Matcha ritual: Comfortably set up your large Chawan bowl, ceramic whisk stand, stainless steel sieve, and tea towel without any sense of clutter.
- Ideal for traditional infusions: Sufficient space to place a cast iron or terracotta teapot and 3 to 4 tasting cups.
- Refined Japandi aesthetic: The contrast between the organic grain of the bamboo and the softened angles of the tank brings a touch of a Zen temple to any contemporary interior.
Two Mineral Finishes to Choose From
- Natural Bamboo & Pure White Tank: A luminous and soothing clarity, ideal for accompanying our Ash White bowl and light Japandi interiors.
- Natural Bamboo & Mineral Black Tank: A sober, textured graphic contrast, designed to match cast iron and our Celestial Black or Abyssal Blue bowls.
Technical Specifications & Care:
- External dimensions: Length ~36 cm | Width ~24 cm | Height ~3.5 cm.
- Tank capacity: Approximately 800 ml of water.
- Materials: Upper tray in water-repellent varnished natural bamboo; lower tank in high-strength, BPA-free composite polymer (resistant to boiling water).
- Care: After each use, lift the bamboo plate, empty the tank, and rinse it with clear water. Wipe the bamboo surface with a soft cloth and let it air dry. Do not immerse the wood for long periods or put it in the dishwasher.
A word from Elara Vey:
"The Cha Pan tray is what defines the sacred space of a tea break. As soon as you place it on the coffee table or desk, the rhythm slows down. You can froth your matcha, rinse your whisk, and pour your hot water without haste or the stress of flooding the table. It is the essential foundation of any indoor sanctuary."
